Welcome to Herlandia - ICYG 2018

19th International conference of young geologists 2018 will take place in April 5th - April 7th in Herľany, Slovakia. The conference brings the opportunity for students and young geologists to present their scientific results and compare with their colleagues from other countries. The conference venue is rotating between Košice region - Herľany, Bratislava region and southern Poland region. This year we are in Herľany, Eastern Slovakia.

Venue

ICYG 2018 is hosted at Venue around the Herlany geyser in Eastern Slovakia. The place is located about 27 km from Košice and is known for the only (cold water) geyser in Slovakia. It erupts periodically (34-36 hours) and erupts water to the 22 m height since 1872. Eruption lasts around 25 minutes.

We would like to invite you to the XIXth International Conference of Young Geologists (Herlany) that will take place in Herľany, Slovakia from  05.04 to 07.04.2017.

The conference is organized by AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Comenius University of Bratislava and Technical University of Kosice. It brings the opportunity for young professional geologists and graduate students to present their scientific achievements and discuss the results with their colleagues from other countries. It is also an excellent opportunity for networking to expand international collaboration. The conference venue is rotating between Košice region - Herľany, Bratislava region and southern Poland region. In 2018 the conference is hosted at the Herľany Geyser Venue near Košice, Slovakia. The place is located about 27 km from Košice.

We sincerely invite you to submit abstracts concerning a variety of subjects in Geology and Earth Sciences: from petrology, paleontology, geophysics, hydrogeology, geoinformatics or geoengineering to environmental sciences. All abstracts are reviewed and will be published in the journal of Slovak Geological Society - Mente et Malleo.

The conference consists of two days of oral presentations, and a field trip. A conference fee is 115 € and includes accommodation and meals from Thursday to Saturday. Registration fee should be paid by 28.02.2018. Early birds accommodation from Wednesday to Thursday (as well as the night from Saturday to Sunday) are available at additional low cost.

The best presentations of the 18th International Conference of Young Geologists, Herl'any - Dobczyce 2017 were delivered by Karolina Rybka (experimental mineralogy), Adam Fheed (hydrocarbon reservoirs) and Michał Bukała (petrology). Michał Bukała received a the Rudolf Mock Award for the best conference contribution. Sponsorship and funding of the Award in 2017 by the OMYA Polska is greatly appreciated.
