Abstract

The paper presents the role of Shift Automation Systems in Logistics and Transportation. With Logistic Centers need to satisfy business and Transportation on a 24/7 basis, the need to Automate processes becomes more important. Despite the increase of automation systems in logistics, employees and equipment schedules also need to be monitored carefully to ensure productivity and smooth operations. In addition, 3rd party employees may have significant role in overall productivity. The study examines potential areas for performance and productivity improvements in Logistic Centers, and the integration between transportation and logistics, using latest Shift Automation technologies.  

The findings provide practical guidance to Shift Managers, Operations Managers, Maintenance Managers and Human Resources Managers. The study highlights key success factors at different areas related to key business challenges, and compliance with labor laws in a changing environment. Findings have a direct impact on various stakeholders involved, such as employees and employees unions and management teams.
